More Energy, More Respect for Nature, with Increasing Efficiency Every Year…

To ensure that the wells that generate geothermal energy operate at the same high efficiency as the day they were first opened, the geothermal field must be managed without losing its renewable quality. Renewability is essential for ensuring the sustainability of the geothermal reserve area and maintaining high well productivity. Conversely, reservoir management will compromise the renewable quality of the country’s geothermal resources, leading to power/energy losses.

In order to obtain optimum benefit from domestic and renewable energy-based GPP facilities in line with the interests of our country and the whole world, after the electrical energy production is used for various purposes such as heating and drying, all of the geothermal spring waters must be reinjected into the formation-reservoir from which the fluid is taken.

As a result of its investments, MB Geothermal currently produces 100 million kWh of electricity annually through 100% reinjection. Targets for continuing and increasing this production are as follows:

  • Ensuring electrical energy production by using the current capacity of geothermal energy plants at maximum rate,
  • Bringing the energy potential of the Bjelovar Geothermal Field to the national economy at maximum capacity in a reliable and high-quality manner without losing the renewable feature of the resource,
  • 100% reinjection of NCG (non-condensable gas) contained in the geothermal fluid in all GPP plants. This way, electricity production continues with zero emissions,
  • Contributing to ensuring continuity and security in energy supply in the electricity market,
  • Developing new projects by taking energy efficiency into consideration, as well as monitoring and managing studies that will set an example for the development of the sector,
  • Opening new wells in the Bjelovar Geothermal Field,
  • After the commissioning of new geothermal power plants, new drilling operations should continue and new geothermal power plants should be put into operation continuously after sufficient energy resources are identified, and production should always be increased to higher capacity.
